Wairua
Kategori: Sculptures
One more sculpture, carved from a block of linden. It's around 10 centimeters tall and painted with acrylics. As many of my creations it has two sides, one animal and one man (or rather female). In this case, a horse and a woman...

This time I also added a new element, a pice of Pāua, a New Zealand shell, submerged into the wood. Māori wood-carvers used them as eyes for their sculptures to bring them into life. Here it got to rest at the the top their heads, symbolizing their shared spirit. Wairua is māori for spirit (new Zealand friends, correct me if i'm wrong) and seemed like a suiting name.
