If I could turn back time

Kategori: Props

This is the result of one of the projects we made before christmas last year. We were assigned to build a helmet out of airex, a completely new material to me. The helmet was suppose to have its origins in one of the civilizations that existed during the Bronze Age or the  Iron Age. I took inspiration from my own country, Sweden and the helmets that had been found in Uppland, on the eastern coast not far from Stockholm.

Foxy Lady

Kategori: Projects

So finally the fox head I've been working on for some weeks are now finished. It ha been a long but interesting project where I've learned to work with some new materials. There are a few things that could have been improved, but overall I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

The finished head...

The head is made of latex and then covered in fur. I used both fake fur and real fur from a fox hat I found in a second hand store.

The whiskers are straws from an old paintbrush...

The eyes are hand painted plastic, with a clear plastic lens on top...

The "fox hole" without the fox...

Put together into the final piece...

I wanted the fox to still be "alive" and not mouted like a hunting trophy...

The base is made from styrofoam glued to a masonite board...

Other materials that I used included steel wire, masking tape, saw dust, paint, real dirt, plastic leaves from an old fake plant (re-painted of course), wallpaper paste, glue, screws, a piece of wood...

What a big mouth you have

We started this second term with a quick film-project where we worked in small groups of two or three people . Everything was supposed to be done in less than three days, which made it rather "quick and dirty".

The film was also meant to re-tell or interpret a part of the traditional children's story The Red Riding Hood. As you will see we went quite far from the original saga.

It was shot with a handheld smartphone and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro. Paper was the main material for the set and characters.

Boy, You're an Alien

This is a small wooden puppet I made for a film-project we finished just before christmas. The wood I used is linden treated with linseed oil. The decorations is painted with acrylics and the joints are joined together with copper colored wire.

The doll itself is around 30 cm tall. Total height, with the strings, is 60 cm.
